Brief Description:Countersunk replacement VS-1008 with drill press and checked each countersink prior to next.

Did not use safety wire to hold countersink cage so less heat build up.

Deburred the punched replacement VS-1008 rear spar doubler. When I countersunk the original VS-1008 I used a drill press and a countersink cage. I used a piece of safety wire to stop the cage from spinning while the drill press was continually running. This caused the grease inside the countersink to heat up in the countersink cage allowing the cage to cut deeper without any adjustment on my part. The first countersink was perfect. The others were progressively deeper and deeper as the cage heated up rendering the part scrap.

Old VS-1008 – Top left countersink is great, as they do toward the bottom of the picture they get deeper and deeper.  Scrap part!
