Brief Description:

VS Scuffed and Primed!

Today I setup a wet sand table and took the red Scotch Brite and the hose and scuffed all the parts except the skin.  I did not want to use water on the skin as I intend to keep the blue plastic on the exterior of the skin as long as possible and knew the water would find its way under it so I scuffed the inside of the skin with a dry pad.  A side by side comparison showed that the dry scuff was not as good as the wet scuff.  The wet sanded material was scuffed better with the same elbow grease.  The water did a great job of removing the loose material during the scuffing process but the pads did not last nearly as long.  After they dried I used the DRDT-2 and the pneumatic squeezer to dimple the holes per the plans, wiped them with acetone, made safety wire hangers, tack ragged them, and hung them for a coat of P60G2 wash primer.  I mixed the first cup 1 part primer to 1.5 part reducer/activator.  The next cup I tired 1 to 2.  It did spray a little better with the 1 to 2 mix although it is very watery either way.  The parts came out somewhat splotchy but a solid coat is all I am interested in and I did achieve this.  This was also the first time I used the Tyvek suit, tyvek boot covers, and HobbyAir 2.  The HobbyAir is excellent and with the suit not a drop of paint touched me!
