With the majority of traffic headed south to Sun N Fun we decided to head north for the weekend to check out Triple Tree’s first ever “Uncle John’s Fly In”. The runway was nice, the facility was great, but the volunteers there – amazing! From the top down, this place is built on hospitality. When we landed we taxied to the south of the South Shower Houses and parked under some trees before headed to dinner. The gentlemen who parked us was kind enough to give us a ride in his car to the Welcome Center on the north end of the field where dinner was housed in a large hangar (home to a P51 and a few others). The kids patiently sat through a presentation on Francis Gary Powers who was shot down in his U-2 in 1960 after dinner before we went back down to the plane (via the same volunteer’s car) and saw Bubbles (RV-10) had parked next to us and the Unriens had begun unpacking their camping gear. London, Violet, and I quickly began getting our gear setup. As soon as the sun went below the horizon it began to get cold. Bryan and Amanda flew their RV-7A up for the event too.
The kids made friends everywhere they went. The got some fishing in, had a dance competition, and got to look through a telescope with friendly Triple Tree visitors.

Arrival into the Aerodrome.

Happy kids to have arrived!

Violet doing her part to get the tie downs handled.

Brian, Amanda, and Bryan excited to be cooking their steaks.

Brandi and the kids excited to be eating some food!

They had enough Real Flight simulators for everyone to play at once.

Hot fire on a cold night making friends dancing.

The kids met some kind people with fishing poles willing to share their time and knowledge.

Skyscraper and bubbles looking on.

The only kind of ice that is acceptable to find on Skyscraper is sitting on the ground.

Cold morning with heat coming off the ponds.

Bryan and Amanda departing.
