Brief Description:
A month before Sun-N-Fun I called Vans to see if they would have an RV-10 at Sun-N-Fun giving demo rides as previous years I had not seen one there. I was directed to Vans East Coast Rep Mich Lock who would be at the show and told they kind of play it by ear at the show regarding demo rides and don’t really have a set schedule. Don’t believe what you don’t see. Turns out what they display in their booth obviously cannot be giving rides so they have various other aircraft sitting in the parking area or at Plant City to give rides in batches. Mitch was courteous enough to entertain giving a demo in the RV-10 but was unable to coordinate a ride at Sun-N-Fun. Lucky for me on their return flight back north they had a stop at Orlando Exec to give a demo ride in their RV-12 to a local flight school. This opened the door for a demo flight in the -10. While the tail number I flew in had the Continental with 210 ponies under the hood it was still a drastic performance difference in comparison the the 172 family and Cherokee 140 I have flight time in. The “RV Grin” is real.
