Brief Description:Fabricated the VOR antenna doubler, match drilled, dimpled, and prepared for final install.
Bryan made his first venture to take a look and contribute to the project. We took the antenna out of the box, marked the spot on the VS-1006 top rib where I wanted to place it, cut a doubler plate, and began drilling, dimpling, deburring, and fitting. The antenna elements screw into the vor “puck” and have allen head set screws that need to be set once the elements are in place. These screws are on the same elevation and plane as the elements and approx 90 degrees perpendicular to the axis of the elements. The only holes left to drill are (2) into the VS skin to match the holes in the sides of the top rib and the holes into the VS-1013 and VS-1004 inspar ribs for the stand offs to hold the conduit. I have also yet to determine how the conduit will terminate on EITHER end and which holes in the inspar ribs it will travel into. I would also like to add another run of conduit in the nose ribs for a VS camera mounted in the fiberglass tip.
VOR Antenna Remove/Replace goes like this:
Installation is the exact opposite with the exception that you would add new grommets and lubrication on them prior to inserting the new elements.
