April and the girls came in to town to visit and I thought it would be a great idea to introduce them to the RV-10 and the Hangar. While many times they have picked us up at the airport down the street from their house in Texas, April nor my nieces had ever ridden in Skyscraper. Their last (and only GA) ride with me was in a rental 172 when I dropped them off in Merritt Island to visit their grandmother about 8 years ago. Alice (now 12) almost lost her breakfast that flight.
We decided to go to The Perfect Spot at the drop zone in Deland for a few reasons:
1. Its a neat venue in that you can watch the skydivers drop in and land right in front of the outdoor seating area.
2. In the event there was some rough air no one would lose their breakfast on their way to lunch.
Elizabeth (14) decided that she wanted to ride up front for the short flight to KDED. Everyone was amazed how short the flight was when we were descending in to Deland. 12 minutes goes by real quick! After a nice lunch outside sitting under covered seating we loaded up and went on an air tour of the theme parks.
When we landed back in Apopka I handed them their Young Eagles log books and a pamphlet letting them know what benefits they would receive as part of the program.

En route to KDED with Elizabeth up front and April and Alice in back.

Not a bad way to start!
